On 19th February 2009 the Scholarship and Training Fund in cooperation with the University of Warsaw had pleasure to organize II National Conference“Mobility of doctoral students and young researches within the European Higher Education Area”.

The conference was aimed at presenting possibilities of supporting individual projects of doctoral students and young researchers under the Scholarship and Training Fund. Opulent choice of possibilities which allow young researchers to develop their professional competences, as well as chances and threats connected with abroad research placements were again stressed.

The official opening of the conference was performed by Professor Tadeusz Tomaszewski – Vice-Rector for Curriculum and Employment Policy from the University of Warsaw, Andrzej Sadłowkski – Director of Foundation for the Development of the Education System as well as Katarzyna Aleksandrowicz – Programme Coordinator of Scholarship and Training Fund.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Warsaw took patronage over the conference and the Embassy was represented by Ms. Agata Ślusarczyk – Adviser–EEA Grants.

Over 120 doctoral students and young researchers from the biggest Polish HEIs not only have an opportunit to acquaint with system of doctoral studies in Norway (Vidar Pedersen – Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education) but also could see young researchers mobilities from a Bologna Process viewpoint (“Mobility of doctoral students under bologna process” Jolanta Urbanikowa – bologna expert). There was also possibility to analize and discusse some organizational and legal aspects connected with living abroad (presentations: “Mobility of doctoral students and young scholars – main obstacles” Katarzyna Martowska – National Representation of Doctoral Students and “Practical aspects of staying in Norway” Zuzanna Koniarz ). Anna Pavlovych presented the possibilities of supporting individual projects of doctoral students and young researchers under the Scholarship and Training Fund.

Finally, the conference ended with workshops prepared by STF officers who explained how to prepare good project proposals under Measure III – Individual Grants by giving participants tips how to fill in the on-line application form under the third call for proposals.
